Connecting or Inserting Field Connections
Theme Builder field connections allow you to Connect or Insert fields into your Theme Layout.
Connect Field
Use this option to connect to a single field when you will not need to apply additional styles or formatting.
*Warning*
You should only insert fields that belong to the CPT or Taxonomy you are creating a Themer Layout for. Use Content Templates to insert fields from a CPT that is related to the CPT that you are creating a Themer Layout for. This is explained in detail below.
Insert Field
Choose this option if you would like to add one or more fields into a single Beaver Builder module and want the ability to apply additional styles, formatting or add static text or other elements.
Template or Magic Tag
Get familiar with how Pods Templates and Magic Tags help you to organize and display your Pods custom content.Â
*Warning* In the Pods section of the Field Connections, Template refers to a Pods Template, not a Builder Template.
Add Fields to a Content Template
Links to articles that explain how to add fields to a content template can be found here.
Connect or Insert a Content Template
In the previous examples the Post Title (a standard WordPress Post Field), Calories (a field in the Recipe CPT created with PODS), and Serving Size (another field in the Recipe CPT created with PODS) have been added to a Themer Layout for the CPT Recipes. Recipes contain Ingredients and are related to the intermediate CPT Recipe Ingredients. If you would like to display the list of ingredients required by a recipe, create a Content Template for Recipe Ingredients and loop through each item. You would then use the field connections in your Recipe Layout to add a connection to the Content Template. In the image below the indented ingredients section is being provided by the Recipe Ingredients Pods Content Template.
URL Field
A URL field is a simple text field with validation to help ensure that a valid URL has been entered. You may select any Pods URL fields by selecting this connection type. The behavior of the field will depend on its usage. If you add it to a text field it will display the plain text URL (www.mysite.com). If you enter it into an iFrame it will load the contents of the linked resource. If you connect it to a Photo module it will load the linked photo.
User or Settings Field
This connection type allows you to connect to Pods Custom Field that extends the User CPT for the currently logged in User. You can also connect to any Pods Settings Fields you have created.
